The Ruby seating family by Cattelan Italia—comprising the sofa of the same name and the matching Ruby Lounge armchair—explores the synergy between the structural rigidity of wood and the softness of upholstered forms. The design reinterprets the Scandinavian tradition and the fluid morphologies of the 1970s, translating them into a highly iconic furnishing system. Here, an exposed solid-wood frame defines the architectural perimeter, underscoring a connection to natural elements. This rigorous formal consistency allows for the creation of integrated layouts with perfect visual balance in residential living spaces, while individual pieces can also stand alone to enhance hospitality projects, hotel suites, and upscale lounge areas.

The ergonomics are centered on the concept of an enveloping shell. Characterized by generous, extra-large proportions, the seat is embellished with visible, tailored stitching and merges organically into the backrest, which extends forward to form a continuous, sinuous armrest.
