The Gibson seating system by Cattelan Italia elevates formal deconstruction to an architectural principle, translating the theoretical tenets of Cubism into a sophisticated piece of furniture. The design transcends the traditional, linear concept of a sofa through an aggregation of asymmetrical blocks, where carefully calibrated variations in height and depth create an ever-evolving domestic landscape. This rigorous, sculptural exploration does not overlook ergonomics; rather, it enhances them. A complex internal structure—featuring a core of dense polyurethane topped with a soft-touch, gradual-release surface—ensures impeccable stability and a superior level of comfort.
Conceived to take center stage, Gibson redefines the fluidity of contemporary spaces. Its inherently double-sided nature organizes movement and visual flow—whether in expansive residential open-plan areas or within the complex layouts of international hospitality venues—acting as a monumental, sculptural island. The homage to the world of lutherie—and the iconic guitar from which it takes its name—is expressed through the geometric tension of its surfaces. Along the sides, optional tailored stitching creates a play of micro-tensions, evoking the drape of an atelier-crafted cover and celebrating the pinnacle of Italian manufacturing expertise. To ensure complete versatility, movable elements such as repositionable armrests and bolster cushions allow for the adjustment of the seating configuration, accommodating any specific postural or architectural requirement.
