Developed in collaboration with the studio Tosca Design, the Cremona sideboard by Cattelan Italia challenges the conventions of classic design by inverting the volumetric balance of its structure. The piece’s architecture positions the main wooden cabinet in the upper section, suspending it above an open lower shelf to create an illusion of extraordinary visual lightness. The engineering core of the design lies in a unique vertically sliding door—featuring a gravity-controlled mechanism—which allows for the adjustment of compartment openings and the reconfiguration of display sections, effectively transforming the unit into a sophisticated designer bar cabinet when desired. The upper volume is supported by three striking, decorative perimeter legs that extend up to the top of the cabinet; their bases are accented with brass-colored steel detailing, which complements the central handle. Completing the design, the open lower shelf is crafted from exquisite marble-effect ceramic—part of the Marmi Ceramica collection—a material signature that ensures both aesthetic excellence and the high-performance quality characteristic of Italian craftsmanship.
