Designer: Tosca Design, 2023

The Amsterdam model of Cattelan Italia is a sophisticated wooden sideboard designed to redefine the concept of high-end storage through a skillful structural interplay of two finishes on its doors. Vertical slats of intentionally varying dimensions lend an elegant, rhythmic geometry to the composition, creating a captivating visual interplay of light and shadow reminiscent of piano keys.

The entire outer frame is enhanced by the exclusive Oxybrass finish, meticulously hand-brushed with expert craftsmanship. Aligned with the doors, the unit’s structure features projecting inserts in fine burnt oak—a stylistic choice intended to add dynamism and three-dimensionality to the overall design. A particularly compelling design detail is found in the steel legs: composed of two slender, parallel curved blades, they not only accentuate the chiaroscuro effects created by ambient lighting but also gracefully soften a design otherwise defined by rigorous geometry.

This designer sideboard is a striking furnishing piece, ideal for infusing a modern living room with strong character. Through a refined blend of industrial-inspired textured finishes and the delicate grain of the wood, the piece retains a classic, timeless allure while embodying the principles of contemporary design.
