Design: Oriano Favaretto

A play on weight and texture that defies the laws of perception, creating a furnishing piece of sculptural elegance. Karibù reinterprets the concept of accent lighting through a slender, highly sophisticated vertical silhouette, designed to enhance the home's most intimate corners with a presence that is understated yet visually striking.

At the heart of the design lies a bold juxtaposition of two diametrically opposed elements. Structural stability is provided by a solid cylindrical base of painted concrete—a rigorous material choice with a Brutalist aesthetic. Rising from this block is a slender metal stem topped by a shade upholstered in soft cotton fabric. This combination makes Karibù a stunning floor lamp that blends industrial precision with a sense of enveloping domestic warmth. The fabric shade gracefully softens the light source, casting a gentle glow that highlights the texture of a sofa’s upholstery or the contours of a nearby designer bookcase.

While many contemporary lighting fixtures opt for cold minimalism, this design piece focuses on tactile and visual emotion. As a freestanding floor lamp, it is ideal for placement in the living room beside a reading chair or in the dining room, where it creates a visual dialogue with a statement dining table. The careful interplay between the solidity of the concrete and the lightness of the fabric transforms this modern lamp into an avant-garde accent, infusing the entire living space with an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and deeply relaxing.
