Designed by Pierpaolo Zanchin for Cattelan Italia, the Drop project breaks away from the two-dimensionality of vertical surfaces, introducing a hybrid concept that sits somewhere between a piece of micro-architecture for display and a functional sculpture. The core identity of this piece lies in its sinuous, stamped-steel silhouette—a drop-shaped configuration that evokes the fluidity of wine and redefines the layout of contemporary dining rooms and living spaces. Its structural engineering transcends the traditional notion of storage: the outer metal shell houses a precisely calibrated geometric grid and a horizontal shelf, transforming the unit into a dual-purpose element that functions simultaneously as a bookcase and an open wine rack. The collection possesses a solid, enduring character, crafted from premium materials with exceptional precision; it is available in a range of sophisticated finishes, including matte lacquer (black or graphite), embossed titanium, or a striking polished stainless steel version. The arrangement of bottles and personal objects against the metallic backdrop creates a dynamic interplay of solids and voids, elevating the wine rack into a wall-mounted work of art with a powerful visual impact.
